Schaaf Family Skipper's Challenge Team's Fundraiser
Help provide the thrill, freedom, and therapeutic value of sailing to people with disabilities, recovering warriors, and local youth from underserved neighborhoods
Support equal access to the Chesapeake Bay
Hello Friends & Family,
We ask for you to consider donating to the Schaaf Family 2024 CRAB Cup Skipper's Challenge Team.
CRAB is Chesapeake Region Accessible Boating - A nonprofit that has been providing the thrill, freedom, and therapeutic value of sailing to people with disabilities, recovering warriors, and local youth from underserved neighborhoods for over 30 years. Last year, CRAB took over 1,200 individuals out sailing. More about CRAB here: https://crabsailing.org
The 2024 CRAB Cup is on Saturday, August 17th. The regatta will have over 90 sailboats in a pursuit race, with the CRAB fleet starting the race. Each CRAB boat will be skippered by a Skipper with disabilities. There is also a Poker Pursuit, for powerboats, and other types of watercraft. In the evening there is a great party at Eastport Yacht Club. The CRAB Cup is CRAB's largest fundraising event of the year. More about the CRAB Cup here: https://crabsailing.org/crabcup/
Last year CRAB opened the Adaptive Boating Center (ABC) in Annapolis, Maryland. The new center brings CRAB to the next level, and allows the ability to add more boats, programs and guests. In addition to the fleet of six Beneteau sailboats, the newest boat is a 39' Gemini power catamaran named “Dream Catcher”, that is outfitted for guests using wheelchairs to roll right on to enjoy fishing and cruising on the bay. In addition to the fishing program started this year, CRAB also started a Radio-Control Sailing program and wellness programs inside the ABC Learning Center.
Your donation will help to keep the CRAB boating programs free for the guests. Donations can be made through this website or with a check sent to CRAB at 7040 Bembe Beach Rd., Annapolis, MD 21403.
We hope you can donate, and we hope to see you at the party!
Thank you for your support!
